Proposition 65

The State of California's Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, became law in November 1986. Effective August 30, 2018, Proposition 65 updated labeling requirements for businesses to notify consumers with clear and reasonable warnings of potentially hazardous chemicals present in products.

Warning labels are required on all products that may contain chemicals found on the state's list of over 850 compounds, and must specify that the product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Valle Rossa (8YOUTH) has reviewed the complete RADI8 product line for compliance with the Proposition 65 directive. RADI8 products are subject to the Proposition 65 regulation labeling requirements and bear the following warning label.

Most Asked Questions

California's Prop 65 requires a warning label if a product may expose consumers to any of over 850 compounds. Many occur naturally in foods from the earth — including fruits, vegetables and herbs. It does not mean the product is unsafe. RADI8 is consistently tested for accuracy, heavy metals, microplastics, contaminants, allergens and compliance. These warnings are provided pursuant to a California labeling law called Proposition 65, which is meant to notify individuals in California of potential exposures to Prop 65-listed chemicals. While selling products that contain any of the listed chemicals is not prohibited, any company that does business in California is required to notify consumers if any of their products may contain a chemical that is listed on the Prop 65 list.

At Valle Rossa (8YOUTH), we take special care to ensure that we follow all relevant regulations applicable to the places our products are purchased and used. For that reason, where appropriate, we label items sold to customers in the State of California with Prop 65 warnings to ensure compliance. We are dedicated to being a transparent company that you can trust to always provide the highest quality and safest products we can.

There are over 850 chemicals on the Prop 65 list, which is updated at least once every year. Any chemicals that are regarded as reproductive toxicants or carcinogens are included on this list, even though some of these chemicals are often found in nature and are not intentionally added to products. For example, anything that comes from the ground — including fruits, vegetables and even drinking water — is likely to contain some heavy metals.

Prop 65 warnings are required at levels that are more stringent than federal regulations. This means all Valle Rossa LLC (8 Youth) products are held to higher standards and regulations. The FDA maximum daily intake for lead is 12.5 micrograms. The Prop 65 maximum daily intake for lead is 0.5 micrograms. Because Prop 65 thresholds are significantly lower than federal standards, a Prop 65 warning does not indicate that a product exceeds FDA safety limits.

No. A Prop 65 warning does not mean a product is unsafe. California's thresholds are among the most stringent in the world, significantly lower than federal standards. Many natural botanical ingredients contain trace amounts of heavy metals that occur in the soil they grow in. RADI8 is third-party tested for purity, potency and contaminants, and meets all federal safety standards.
